More than 80% of Russian companies are ready to purchase Chinese tires

About 84% of Russian companies are ready to consider using Chinese brand tires as an alternative to the usual manufacturers this season. According to a reserch by Alfa-Leasing, 15% of enterprises have already purchased tires from China.

Although car owners need replace summer tires with winter tires from the beginning of December, the tire replacement season starts earlier. So, residents of Siberia and the Far East "change" their tyres in September, while those in the Urals and Central Russia "change" their tyres in November. The sales leaders in winter tires are Krasnodar and Rostov-on-Don.

Russian market capacity

After a year, Nokia, Michelin, Continental and Bridgestone have all found new buyers for their Russian factories.

By the end of 2023, the total production capacity of nine Russian tire companies has exceeded 55.3 million tires. Ikon Tyres currently has the largest production capacity; followed by J.S.C. Cordiant (JSC Cordiant), a local Russian tire company, which has a production capacity of 16.65 million tires after several expansions. The company can produce passenger car tires, light truck tires, medium truck tires and bias tires, and is a traditional Russian tire giant.

China's tire exports to Russia steadily growing

Chinese tire companies have increased exports to the Russian market in 2023, with export volumes increasing significantly. It’s due to the huge demand in the Russian tire market and the continuous improvement of product quality and brand influence of Chinese tire companies.

Data shows that as of the end of 2023, Chinese tires' share of the Russian market will be approximately 30%, an increase of at least 20% from the beginning of 2023. This data shows that the competitiveness of Chinese tires in the Russian market continues to increase and gradually occupies an important position.
